SENTENCES (II)

If we were oceans, blue would be the right color

to communicate a vast & churning desire

lonely for long distances & aching for a tremendous

shattering, palpable & bright, & by using this strategy

I am already five lines into this poem before

using the first person & you are the second person

I’m letting into this poem, this structured recovery,

except the difficulty is that all of this memory

overwhelms me & risks excluding the reader

while I drown lonely for the shore.
